by Our trip to Jänkhällä Jytisee 2007 had been quite successfull and we were convinced to do the same next year until now: Today was a surprise waiting in my mailbox: Saariselän Keskusvaraamo is trying to charge from us cleaning which was not done on our apartment! We did not want this to happen as we are totally capable of cleaning our own stuff!
Here’s a note from the e-mail I got (sorry, only in finnish):
Hei Ilpo!
Outapailakasta oli viety roskat lattialta pois sekä tyhjennetty roskikset, lattia oli imuroitu ja pyyhitty, pölyt pyyhitty, jääkaapista tyhjennetty pulloja (yhdessä oli ollut juomasekoitus (1,5 litran pullo) ja puoleksi juotuja oluita, wc pesty sekä otettu käytetyt liinavaatteet vuoteista pois eli käytännössä katsoen kunnon lähtösiivous, jotta seuraava asiakas voi huoneistoon tulla.

None of the above applies to us, we had taken the garbage out from the apartment, cleaned it after us and taken the lineage out from the beds. No beer bottles left behind, none of us even had any beer over there!.
Obviously there was some summer trainee doing his/hers best to earn some money, but in these cases you should really consider what kind of story you will send out about what was done…
So, when you do a booking through Saariselän Keskusvaraamo, when you leave, take pictures from the apartment to verify in what kind of shape it was when you left! You can not really trust these guys not to mix things.
